More than 20 years ago, a lifelong love of animals led me to work at the ASPCA in New York. And that's where I met and adopted the dog who changed my life forever, my beloved pit bull Ellie. As I took her through obedience classes, I realized that behavioral issues are the primary reason dogs end up in shelters.
That's when I committed to becoming a certified trainer to do what I could to build relationships between humans and dogs. I've worked with rescues in NY and DC, trained therapy dogs, and matched & trained humans & dogs to support each other through Pets for Vets -- along with working privately with dog parents and their dogs.
I believe every dog should be a well-behaved and integral part of the family and the community.
And that positive training is the foundation of a beautiful, mutually fulfilling relationship between dogs and their people.
Today I carry Ellie in my heart and my rescue girl Stevie is at my side just about everywhere. She's the one dog I've ever known who has never needed a moment of training. I'm pretty sure we've known each other before.
