Stray Hearts Animal Rescue

mjblanton@outlook.com

Stray Hearts Animal Rescue runs the Martin County KY shelter as a no-kill shelter. We are a small group in the heart of Appalachia, in Eastern KY. We work diligently to rescue and rehome stray and unwanted cats and dogs in our small county. Since 2015, we have saved over 2,000 cats and dogs. We also promote responsible pet ownership and spaying and neutering of pets.

The team of volunteers at Stray Hearts is passionate about animals and we love our work giving stray and unwanted cats and dogs in the county a second chance at a happy life as beloved pets. We are a 501c (3) nonprofit organization as of June, 2016.

Our county has a population of 12,300, with a poverty rate of 40.6 percent. We have good-hearted people, but with the coal industry down, our citizens have little to give. We need and gratefully welcome financial donations, food and cleaning supplies.

Caring for animals is such a rewarding job, and we take it seriously.
