Hi everyone! Last week I shared some natural protocols for flea and tick prevention and today I am sharing a natural heartworm prevention that I use for my dogs.
** Please note: Always discern what is best for you, your dog, your lifestyle and the area that you live when it comes to flea and tick and heartworm preventatives. Yearly blood work is important to test for tickborne illnesses and heartworm to ensure your dog is protected.
Amber Naturalz
- HWF Clean Heart tincture
This tincture is made up of heart healthy herbs that keep parasites at bay by cleaning the blood of toxins and detoxing the cardiovascular system from foreign contaminates. You can use this tincture for maintenance year round, and you can also use it as a "detox" in the event that your dog has heartworm.
A small note on titer testing – I am always preaching about building a strong immune system. I believe that diet is the most important factor in keeping our dogs healthy and deterring dis-ease. Prevention is the best medicine. Plants and herbs work in tandem with a species appropriate diet to provide medicinal properties that work with the natural rhythms of our dog’s body to support healing. Another way to promote a healthy immune system within our dogs is to not over-vaccinate. Yearly titer testing is important to gauge the number of antibodies in your dog’s blood before providing another vaccination, which increases the toxic load in the body. For example, if you want to give your dog the lymes vaccination because you’re worried about ticks and lymes disease – great, you can absolutely do that. However, the vets will tell you that your dog needs this vaccine yearly. Instead, you can titer test yearly to confirm that the antibodies are still in your dog’s system, and therefore skip the vaccination because he/she is still protected. This approach greatly protects your dog’s immune system and decreases the amount of toxins and chemicals that your dog’s vital organs need to work overtime to filter out of the body.
I hope this helps!
Also, be sure to check out my support group on June 9th regarding pre and post vet care and how we can support our dogs naturally before and after a vet visit, and overall stressful events.
Blessings my friends! <3
