About Us

Our mission is to rescue, re-home, or otherwise save as many dogs and puppies as possible from the Baton Rouge Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA).

Since starting in 2010, FOTA has found forever homes for more than 2000 animals from the EBR Parish shelter and PASS program.

FLOOD RESPONSE

Friends of the Animals BR immediately went into action and took dogs from animal shelters in Baton Rouge and the outlying areas that were being evacuated to Lamar Dixon Expo Center when the rains began. In August we took in a whopping 60 dogs , 11 that are heartworm positive, bringing our total of heartworm positive dogs pulled for 2016 to 43. We treat heartworm positive dogs even after they are adopted. This unusual number of dogs being taken at one time, in addition to our increase number of heartworm positive dogs, has put an additional amount of expenses on our organization which we did not envision. We ask that you consider donating any amount to help alleviate these costs. Thank you so much!
