In this video, I work beginning Stay with Maggie.
Before we started this session, we went on a decompression walk (15 minutes). I have found Maggie has way more energy than an average 8-month-old dachshund.
So we burn off some energy before training so she can focus. We have seen this is very helpful for her.
You can see that I am marking for Maggie staying on the mat as I move around her. The sequence is as follows... I step away or to the side and return, once I hit my beginning point I mark and reinforce.
In this session, that is all I did. This is a new behavior, so like all new behaviors, we get the behavior first, then once we have 90 percent success, we name the behavior( add the cue).
If you have any questions just ask.
Richard
