My Favorite Probiotics for Dogs
with Alicia Boemi of HolisticPetWellness, Wellness Advocate

This is a question I get asked about all the time - what is the best probiotic for my dog? I give my dogs daily probiotics whether in pill form or from a natural food source. I find that either form work well for dogs! Pills can be best for dogs who have a dairy intolerance or allergy to dairy/histamines in fermented foods.

Here are my recommendations-

Probiotic pills I love:

  • Vetri Science Mega Probiotic, https://amzn.to/2SWuzHU
  • NOW GI Support: https://amzn.to/2SYlrm0
  • Dr. Mercola Pet Probiotics: https://amzn.to/2YFWUrc

Probiotic food sources I love:

  • Raw Milk Kefir, an excellent source of probiotics because of the raw dairy and kefir grains that have fermented in the raw milk. Answers makes a cow milk kefir product or you can make your own kefir!
  • Raw Milk, I source raw milk from a local farm and it is cost effective but also has so many benefits from a probiotic and immune support standpoint
  • Plain Kefir, If you aren't keen on raw you can purchase plain kefir from the grocery store! Just make sure there are no added sugars or flavors
  • Fermented Vegetables, You can easily DIY this or buy fermented veggies (make sure no spices or onions) and they pack an awesome punch when it comes to probiotics. Dogs with allergies shouldn't eat fermented veggies as there are histamines present that can flare up allergies
