This game is called "Leash Off - Game On".

Many dogs bolt as soon as you unclip their leash. They know that once they hear that click or feel the pressure of the leash removed, they can run freely. This game is designed to create a dog that turns to you as soon as the leash is removed.

It's important to practice this safely and so I recommend starting with 2 leashes and in a secured area until your dog is responding quickly.

With 2 leashes on your dog, reach down to unclip 1 of them. As soon as you touch the clip, mark and reward your dog.

Repeat until you are able to unclip your dog's leash. As soon as you unclip the leash, mark and reward your dog. Repeat this until your dog looks to you as soon as you unclip the leash.

Problem solving:

If your dog already takes off or disengages when you unclip the leash, go back and repeat a step until you're able to get your dogs attention as soon as you touch or unclip the leash.

Once your dog is doing this without hesitation, start practicing in more exciting locations such as the dog park, or your regular "off-leash" play area.

Practice in a secured area until you're able to unclip both leashes with your dog offering attention immediately. Continue practicing in new locations until you're able to unclip both leashes and your dog looks to you instantly.

(Only you know your dog. Do not let your dog off leash if you think they will take off and not respond to you. Only practice in safe off leash areas.)
